LAteral Re-Instatement Cutters

One of the most common and important tools in pipeline rehabilitation is the cutter. KRE have worked with our partners in the field to produce cutters capable of operating in pipes from 150mm-600mm that are made from PVC,clay as well as most other materials. Cutters are used to recut lateral connections in renewed pipe as well as cut through obstructions such as roots, rock, gravel and even small amounts of concrete.

KREs cutters are rugged, durable and affordable. Each cutter can be configured in many ways to allow for specialised situations with a simple straight forward design that makes it easy to assemble and deploy in minimum time. Specialised cutting heads can be varied and used to slice through different pipes that are composed of different materials.

KRE constantly strive to be at the forefront of trenchless technology so if you have specialised requirements, our design team can custom design a cutting system to suit your needs.

Carbide spiked wheels provide traction on renewed pipe surfaces.

The 150mm-225mm Cutter was designed to traverse down any pipe 150mm-225mm and cut out lateral connections within the pipe. It features a solid brass construction, designed to be rugged and provide enough weight to give it traction in the slipperiest conditions.

It can run in numerous configuration dependent upon the type of pipe it needs to drive in as well as what material it needs to cut though. Different sized wheels can be fitted onto the cutter to improve its seating position in larger pipe. Slippery or smooth PVC can lead to traction problems with standard rubber wheels, so we have engineered tungsten spiked wheels that provide excellent traction in these conditions.

The cutting head can revolve a full 360 degrees facilitating the cutting of laterals no matter what their position, while the pan cutting camera provides unprecedented picture quality allowing the job to get done with a minimum of fuss.

300mm-600mm Cutter

The 300mm to 600mm cutter was designed to fill the gap in cutting for pipe sizes that were larger than 150mm-225mm. The pipe conditions are slightly different for larger pipes with greater incidence of larger debris and other factors.

The 300mm-600mm cutter combats these tough conditions using two high powered electric motors for indepentant drive of each side of the cutter. The large rubber wheels offer great traction and also the ability to climb over minor obstructions that smaller cutters simply would not be able to get over.

The 300mm-600mm tractor also offers the ultimate in configurability. By simply changing the wheels, remounting the camera and adjusting the cutting head, the cutter can be fit into 300mm pipe. All these changes can be done on site in a few minutes with a mininimum of fuss.

Powerful light heads and the latest in CCTV technology allow for unprecedented viewing of pipelines whilst the range of cutting heads available allows for the smooth and accurate cutting of any material.

Control Unit

The Cutter Control unit provides the interface through which the user controls the cutter and the cutter recieves power. The cutter is connected to the cable reel which connects to the control panel. Some functions on the unit are not available on all cutters, for instance the individual motor controls are not used with the 150-225 cutter. This is because there is only has one motor to save space. We only manufacture one control unit regardless of the system to increase the economy of our systems as well as to allowing any of our cutting systems to be run off the same box hence making upgrading to a larger cutter very cost effective.

The Control Unit plugs into an ordinary 240V 50Hz AC power outlet, however, it can be modified to run off other power sources. Further information can be found by clicking on Data Sheets in the menu.

Twinline Reel

The Twin Line reel provides the physical link between the cutter and the control Box. It consists of two high durability hoses fused together to supply both the electrical connections to power and control the cutter as well as the air required to power the cutting motor.

The Twin Line Reel is composed of a sturdy aluminium construction and typically comes with 200 meters of cable/hose that is wound off by the pull of the cutter as it descends through the pipe. Retracting the reel is made quick and easy via a regulated air motor with adjustable speed. The twin line can also be manually rewound with a crank that attaches to the side of the reel.

Maintenance of the reel is minimum. All that is required is occasional greasing of the reels spooling axle and periodic emptying of the water that is filtered out by the oil regulator.
